looking for alaska

I just finished John Green's LOOKING FOR ALASKA.
Heres the Sypnosis mumbo jumbo Spoilers free. "its about a guy-who has no friends- who decides to go to a different school in another state in hopes of befriending new people and making his uneventful life more interesting". But obviously things dont go as planned as a Young Mysterious Girl enters his life.... yada yada...the makings of a typical Teenage Novel.

But dont let tht synopsis fool you. This book is so far away from Adventurous or FUN. Sadly this book is a Overly-serious story that gets a bit too philosophical. Its a 221 pages long book, in other words a very short book and an EASY read as well. The story is told through the perspective of Miles Halter(the protagonist) and is written in a JOURNAL entry style. And for that part the writing is beliveable. I mean the story literally seems like its written by a 16 year old, AKA the writing is BLAND and BORING. John Green's Writing has no style nor substance. The Book felt like a journal written by a guy who I least cared about. The characters were waaayyy underdeloped and they semmed to be making a much bigger deal out of ordinary events. I mean GET OVER IT ALREADY!
**SPOILERS** I mean COME ON, you let a SUPER-Drunk girl drive her way to death and you are looking for FORGIVENESS from the DEAD?? COME ON!!! SRSLY?? and the books ends on a "MAYBE she forgives me and i would forgive her too"-note. I was like COME ON!!! You should Forgive yourself first, YOU FOOL and live with it. There is no way around it. **END OF SPOILERS**
What I mean is- I hated the Characters. They were way too annoying and even though  its a short book, it took me almost a Week to finish because of its Bland writing and the boring plot.
Overall I am going with a 2 out of 5 for this juvenile Drivel called LOOKING FOR ALASKA. This is a Lifeless book trying to force MORAL in

Paris, Texas.

I had the pleasure of watching the movie- PARIS,TEXAS, the other day and WHAT A MOVIE it was( still is LOL!). Few minutes into the movie, I was stunned by the visual spectacle put in by the dry desert-lands of TEXAS. Thanks to such great cinematography, the movie is breathtaking in every frame- so much so, that the Camerawork and the landscapes do more talking than the characters themselves. But dont get me wrong, there is more to it than just the eye-candy element.

The movie opens with an old man walking alone in the desert aimlessly. He appears to be homeless and apparently seems to have lost his memory. Don't tell me thats not intriguing enough. The first 20 minutes plays out like a guessing game- we dont know who this guy is or what's ahead in store for us.The story unravles in its leasurely pace. And before you know it, WE move from the Desert landscapes to LA suburbs to Texas highways to a brothel house. Even though its quiet a JUMP from one Settings to another, thanks to the amazing cinematography (again), the film never looses its distinct mood tht it creates and sustains throughout.

Paris, Texas is directed by WIM WENDERS- whose known for his criticaly acclaimed WINGS OF DESIRE. He is NOT from Hollywood and its quiet evident that the movie strays away from the typical Hollywood overbearing. The movie definitely has its European Art house touch to it, but it never gets tooo self indulgent or too artsy-fartsy like many Foreign movies tend to. Wenders heavily relies on Silence and frames to put forward the emotions that the characters are going through. As a matter of fact, the film is more concerned with exploring feelings than with telling a story. Thanks to such an Unusual and unknown set of actors the movie scores even higher in its authentic scale. Harry dean Stanton the leading man does such a wonderful job making TRAVIS a role to remember.

What surprised me most was how well the movie progressed into a deep meaningful journey of redemption. I am in Awe of Wender's ability to effectively translate the power of imagery to help us truly see things as they are. To call this movie a towering achievement seems almost like an understatement. Its a 2 hour 25 minutes long feat and with enough time spent on silent frames the movie never gets BORING. I was always involved in the story(as an audience) and was thinking (am still thinking) about it much after the movie ended. And I still cant figure out if it was a HAPPY or a SAD ending. But one thing is evidently clear, PARIS, TEXAS is a MASTERPIECE of the highest caliber.

4.5/5

(APPLAUD).I will be covering 10 categories and Just so u know(assuming tht u dont know already), the winners are voted by ME and me ONLY!. SO buckle up LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, here it begins-

Best Soundtrack

Nominees -

BLACK SWAN

INCEPTION

SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

And the Winner is BLACK SWAN

I havent been able to stop myself from listening to the BLACK SWAN- Soundtrack. theres something about the music that puts me in a sort of TRANQUIL mood.

Best Animated Feature Film of the Year

the winner is- TOY STORY 3

though I must say that HOW TO TRAIN A DRAGON was almost equally as good!

Toy Story 3 is the only Animated movie so far to make me cry.

Best Writing, Screenplay

Nominees-

RABBIT HOLE

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

THE KING'S SPEECH

INCEPTION

ANOTHER YEAR

and the Winner is- Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network

Social Network deserved it HANDS DOWN!!! 5 minutes into the movie I was BLOWN AWAY by wht i was hearing. the Opening scene in the PUB between Eisenberg and Rooney Mara has to be one of the best Opening Scenes EVER!!

Best Achievement in Directing

Nominees-

Tom Hooper- THE KING'S SPEECH

Darren Aronofsky- BLACK SWAN

Christopher Nolan- INCEPTION

David Fincher- THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Mike Leigh- ANOTHER YEAR

and the WINNER is - Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan

The KEY-Reason why BLACK SWAN works is because of ARONOFSKY's masterful direction. To me, Black Swan was a one man show and What a SHOW it was.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

Nominees-

Amy Adams- THE FIGHTER

Mellisa Leo- THE FIGHTER

Hailee Steinfeld- TRUE GRIT

Barbara Hershey- BLACK SWAN

Lesley Manville- ANOTHER YEAR

and the WINNER is - Lesley Manville for Another Year

You have got to see MANVILLE in ANOTHER YEAR. Its one of the finest performances I have ever seen. Manville gives such an authentic performance that its almost painful(and gut-wrenching) to watch her character suffer through her mid-life crisis(on screen). Its one of those (rare) Haunting performances tht will stay with you much after the movie is over. Its Appalling tht she wasnt even nominated for the Oscars!

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

Nominees-

Andrew Garfield- THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Christian Bale- THE FIGHTER

Geoffery Rush- THE KING'S SPEECH

Matt Damon- TRUE GRIT

Mark Ruffalo- THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

EASY choice! Amazing performance! One of the main reasons why I enjoyed King's Speech so much!

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

ANNETE BENNING-  THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

NICOLE KIDMAN- RABBIT HOLE

JENNIFER LAWRENCE-  WINTER'S BONE

and the winner is- Oh its a TIE*... Natalie Portman for Black Swan and Michelle williams for Blue Valentine

*there can only be ONE tie per year, SO i decided to go with Portman and Williams. Enough has already been said about PORTMAN so i am gonna skip ahead to WILLIAMS- who gives her career-best performance in BLUE VALENTINE. Its one hell of a Heart-Breaking and Authentic performance. She literally put us in her shoes and makes us feel the frustration of being stuck in a dead-end-Marriage. To cut it short, let me just say tht she was BETTER than Portman. TRUST ME! Go watch BLUE VALENTINE!

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

Nominees-

RYAN GOSLING- BLUE VALENTINE

COLIN FIRTH- THE KING'S SPEECH

JESSE EISENBERG- THE SOCIAL NETWORK

BLACK SWAN

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

TOY STORY 3

RABBIT HOLE

INCEPTION

TRUE GRIT

BLUE VALENTINE

THE TOWN

THE KING'S SPEECH

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

and the Winner is- INCEPTION

I believe 2010 was a GREAT year for movies, and to choose one out of such great list is almost impossible. Though, it was a close call between  BLACK SWAN and INCEPTION. I decided to go with the latter because INCEPTION is beyond any Movie-Watching experience I have ever had.

So altogether, Black Swan is the Big winner today with 3 wins followed by Kings Speech which won 2 acting trophies. Social Network(the most nominations= 7), Toy Story 3, Blue Valentine, Another Year, The Kids are all right and Inception all won 1 award each.

Thank you for joining me today(Wasn't tht fun??? the most fun i have had in DAYS!! YOOHOO!!!) and I hope you do come back to this BLOG for more.

As of NOW, We can finally say that the award season is Officially OVER. hopefully the 2nd Annual BEST-est Awards will be held next year before the OSCARS.

Please, leave a comment(PLEASE I beg of you!!!!anything will do, all i need is some kind of proof tht someone, anyone did go through this POST)! I would forever be indebted to your kindness.

LADIES and GENTLEMEN...
first things first, I write like i speak. I mean, I write like as if i am talking to ME-self!
DOES that make sense?
What i mean is, you are in for a lot of grammatical errors and hog-washed ENGLISH. Occasionally some self-invented words.. and yes lots of CAPS Locks.
I always seem to be losing something in my bag.

so lets get to the point,  I live in NEW YORK.I am an accounting student but my interest is mostly in MOVIES.
i devour books like crazy.
Basically this blog is kind of a journal for me.
and i am gonna be blogging a lot about Movies, Fashion, Books and some Crazy incidents in my life.
SO if you relate to anything tht ME has to say.. then plz let me know by COMMENTING.
